Swimwear to suit your body shape

Women’s swimwear by body shape

Apple body shape

f you have an apple body shape then you have a prominent middle section. It’s a very common body shape among women. Don’t worry though – help is at hand in the form of a tummy control swimsuit. This will slim you in and support you around the middle just like shapewear would. Try the Miraclesuit – it really does work wonders. You will also suit a swimdress or a blouson tankini. These styles of swimsuit will skim over your tummy for a flattering look.

Pear body shape

Pear shape women are heaviest around their bottom and/or thighs. The best bathing costume for a pear shape is a swimdress that covers the tops of your thighs. If you’d prefer a traditional swimsuit or bikini, look for a style that has lots of colour and detail on the top half and a simple bottom half. Underwired swimwear or swimsuits with lightly padded cups can work well as it will boost your bust to balance out your figure.

Strawberry body shape

The strawberry body shape is characterised by broader shoulders and narrower hips. If you have shapely shoulders, why not show them off in a halterneck or strapless swimsuit? If you prefer a bikini or tankini, try one with short bottoms. As these are more substantial, they’ll help to balance those broader shoulders. Alternatively a swimdress or swim skirt bikini will add more volume at the hip for more of an hourglass silhouette.

Hourglass body shape

The hourglass figure is balanced top and bottom: a bigger bust and hips with a smaller waist in comparison. This means that you can pretty much take your pick of swimwear styles – just make sure you don’t hide that waist, which means avoiding looser styles such as blouson tankinis. Stick to cup size swimwear to support your bust – why not try a halterneck swimsuit for an amazing cleavage or a strapless bikini to show off your balanced proportions.

Rectangle body shape

If you have a rectangle body shape then you have quite a straight figure with no one area that’s prominent or smaller. Learn to create curves with your choice of swimwear. A swimdress or swim skirt will give you a more feminine shape. A colourful bikini will look great on you too, drawing the eye to bust and hips to the illusion of more curves. Classic bikini bottoms will look best as shorts may look a little on the boyish side.
